AFAAQ / Capability / 06
Enterprise systems
Business services, workflows and the integrations that connect an organisation.
Argument
Enterprise is the only capability that contributes several nodes at once, across two layers. It is the shape an organisation's own processes impose on a system.
Role in the system
Three nodes, not one.
Enterprise introduces business services, workflows and integrations — spread across the application and services layers rather than concentrated in one. Workflows sit behind business services; integrations sit beside the platform.
That spread is why enterprise work produces the densest wiring of any capability: more nodes means more edges, and every edge is a contract somebody has to maintain.
System effect
The densest composition.
The composition below carries more connections than any other single capability produces. Each one exists because an organisation's process required it, not because the architecture wanted it.
